It is a non-surgical procedure that involves sedation of the patient in which botox (botulinum toxin) is placed through endoscopy in the patient's stomach, in this way the stomach muscles are paralyzed and the stomach takes longer to empty causing the patient feels satisfied longer. Gastric botox is done in approximately 20-30 minutes. Subsequently, the patient will rest in the hospital for observation for approximately 2 hours and later can return home.

The botox will begin to take effect from the seventh day and has a duration of effect of 6 months in the body. A person can use botox up to three times and at an interval of 6 months each.
